What I noticed right away is that the machine shaves the ice fine enough that it actually soaks up the syrup instead of it all pooling at the bottom of the cup. That makes a huge difference in how it tastes all the way through.
The kit comes with three different syrup flavors and they're actually distinct from each other, not just slightly different shades of the same sweetness. Having the cups and straws included means I didn't have to scramble for anything extra before the party.

It handles ice from a standard home freezer just fine, no special ice needed. I just used regular cubed ice and it came out fluffy and light. The portion per cup is generous too, not tiny little servings.

the straws that come included are the right width for slurping up syrup and soft ice together. seemed like a small detail but it genuinely makes the whole experience better than using regular straws.

I was a little worried the syrup flavors would taste artificial and gross, but honestly they're pretty good. Not overpowering, not watery. My nephews went through all three flavors at their birthday party and kept asking for more.
