Having the timer built in is genuinely useful. I load it up before bed, set the hours I need, and it's just done by morning. The trays are also easy to pull out and stack back in, nothing fiddly about it.
The temperature control is more precise than I expected at this price point. I do herbs at a lower setting and jerky at a higher one and it actually makes a difference being able to dial it in rather than just guessing.
What I noticed pretty quickly is that the heat distributes from the back rather than just the bottom, so you don't get that thing where the lowest tray is overdone and the top ones are barely dried. Batches come out much more consistent.
Told my friend to get one of these after she mentioned she was worried about heat being uneven across the trays. She'd had that problem with a cheaper one years ago. She texted me after her first batch of apple slices and said everything dried out evenly, no burnt edges on the bottom tray.
Very satisfied. I use it regularly and it hasn't let me down so far.

the five trays give you real flexibility. I'll do one tray of banana chips, another of herbs, another of beef strips, all at once. As long as the temp works for everything you're doing, you can mix it up and it handles it fine.
ok this thing is actually so good for making dried fruit. my kids are obsessed with the apple chips 😊.

honestly this thing runs so quietly. I've had dehydrators that sound like a small aircraft taking off in my kitchen, so I was half expecting the same. It just hums along in the background, barely noticeable while I'm watching TV in the next room.
Five trays sounds like a lot until you start doing jerky and realize you need every single one. My old unit only had three and I'd have to do multiple runs. This handles a decent batch in one go, temperature held steady the whole time, no drama.
